While I was away I found out that David Carradine had died/suicide/murdered at the age of 72 and Enter the Dragon's Mr. Han, Shih Kien died at 96. Both on the same day, June 3. I was pretty shocked at Carradine's death. Some bizarre stuff. He was a giant in the martial art's world. I remember seeing Kung Fu as a child, I never followed the later Kung Fu-The Legend Continues series all that much though. He was great in Kill Bill. A strange guy, but a giant. Shih Kien was a classic of the old Hong Kong films. I remember looking this guy up in Wikipedia a few years ago to see if he was still alive. Farewell Mr. Han, you outlived Bruce Lee by nearly 36 years.

I liked him in Kill Bill. I did see a few of the old Kung Fu shows when I was a kid but can't remember much about them. Wasn't he suppose to be Chinese?

His character was suppose to be Half Chinese. Father went to China and married a Chinese woman and stayed in China. They both died and orphaned Cain (Carradine's character). Orphaned he joined a Shoalin temple.
Though Cain was suppose to be half chinesse and everyone treated him like he was. I dont think Carradine has any Chinese ancestory wikipedia list him as Irish, English, Scottish, Welsh, German, Spanish, Italian, Ukrainian and Cherokee. Thats the 70s for you. Seems that could have just written him as full American and being raised in China would act very Chinesse.
Though a good series, though rumor was the part was suppose to go to Bruce Lee. That would have be epic. Carradine's move were slow and reactive, very fitting for a wise monk type which is the way the show went. Carradine did a good job I thought.
