Just wondering of anyone has every seen Master of the Flying Guillotine? I remember first watching this around 1988 and it became one of my favorite martial arts movies. If you like Mortal Kombat, this has alot of what that property has, coming eighteen years before the first Mortal Kombat game was even launched (1974). Here is a review: www.kungfucinema.com/reviews/masteroftheflyingguillotine.htm . It's worth checking out if you like old school Kung Fu/ martial arts movies.

i havent watched alot of older kung fu movies except for bruce lee....its funny but i havent seen any of the wu tang movies... Some of those old kung fu movies, say from 1973-1985, are pretty good. Some are so bad that they are good. Some are truly great too. If you like Kill Bill, you'll probably like alot of the better films of this genre, I've always considered Kill Bill a homage piece. Master of the Flying Guillotine is a classic. It's been out on DVD since about 2002.

Oh man that brings back memories of me working on Saturdays back in the late 80's on my first job in Capitol Plaza and watching Kung Fu Theater movies like these. Master of the Flying Guillotine is a true classic if you like this genre. This one never was on my (then) local (WNUV-54, Baltimore) "City Cinema/Black Belt Theater" back in the day, I first taped if from a late-night network showing. This is a cult-classic of sorts. Jimmy Wang Yu is always great. After seeing this (and The Return of the Chinese Boxer) one can see where video game properties such as Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat got some of their ideas. Alot of cool character, martial arts styles, and weapons.
