I've received these books and have read some of each one thus far. I knew a fair amount regarding Toyotomi Hideyoshi before but this book was very good. I didn't know alot about females of the Samurai class so alot of this was new to me. Great illustrations as one would expect from a Osprey book.

Yeah...I bought the Novel about Hideyoshi "Taiko" a few years back - I know it's a novel but it really gives you a great feel for his character

I know Oba Nobunaga, Toyotomi Hideyoshi, and Tokugawa Ieyasu are very popular in fiction but learning from a gaming standpoint is a plus. I always found the period in Japanese history to which these three lived to be some of the most interesting.

oh oh i am going to have to read the Samurai women! nice It's a good book. It's only 64-pages but if you're familiar with the Osprey military history series of books you'll know what this is all about. Since your Shogan series is set in this time (1184-1877) there might be alot you could use in your series as a reference.

I recently purchased a book Fortress Monasteries of the Himalayas: Tibet, Ladakh, Nepal and Bhutan
Nothing to do with martial arts but more of the culture, history, and Dzong architecture. A great book in the Osprey series.

I'm a fan of Dzong architecture and I'm sure you will notice some of it in some of new castle/fortress pieces.
