Today I went to a new local book store that sells used books and picked up three Ninja books. They are: The Ninja Shuriken Manual The Making of a Ninja The Mystic Arts of the Ninja by Stephen K. Hayes
Not bad with the prices I spent 15 for everything and they all are in pretty good condition.

I've got that Stephen K. Hayes book and a few other by him. Most of his stuff I have was published over twenty years ago. I have a fairly large selection of ninja and martial arts books within my collection. I like the books from Dr. Stephen Turnbull, his books on the samuari, ninjas, and the far east are very well done IMO.

I wouldn't mind getting a mixed book of Samurai's and Ninjas but I doubt few are out. I'll keep checking the place about once a week since it's so close actually right in the same shopping center where the movie theater is, but I don't think you ventured around my neighborhood?

Wow, pretty cool website. I'll have to check my library to see if they have any of Turnbull's books

Are there any books that specialize in ninja weapons?

I believe dr Stephen turnbull has done a few books specifically about ninja and their weapons - I've got a few of them. I'll flick through them and see if there's much on weapons in there. What specifically are you looking for?

Osprey Publishing sells alot of his titles and I hope to buy a few new ones entitled Pirates of the Far East and Korea Fortresses 1592-1598 out this month. I have a non-Turnbull book on Japanese Medieval wepaons that is a pretty good resourse as well.

Watch out - Osprey publishing keep re-releasing his books under different names. I think those two are new but I'd flick through them before you buy. His samurai sourcebook is definately his best book and his one on Ninja is really good too.

True, I like when other aspects of that culture/time are delved into such as the castles, certain battles, seige weapons, and ships. There is only so much that can be said about samurai on a basic level. I've tried to find some of his earlier works. I found a samurai book published in 1977 on ebay, but never bid.

Osprey publishing have a good series on battles - they've covered Kawakajima, Sekigahara, Nagashino and the siege of Osaka castle (I think). Most of my samurai books are Turnbull's but I've got a couple of others too
