I was thinking on what use to be a draw for me back in my youth with Ninjas and I remembered getting some of those Ninja magazines back in the day. Did you ever get any of them? Their covers really were awesome!

I remember these magazines, they were indeed awesome. I remember alot of them (from the mid 1980's) had Sho Kosugi on many of their covers from his various films. I'll have to check and see if I have any in storage. The first magazines I got that dealt with ninjas and martial arts were Inside Kung Fu, Inside Karate, and Blackbelt. I remember back in the day going threw these magazines and being amazed that you could buy all these awesome weapons legally. I still have a Aug. 1986 Inside Kung Fu with me here as a reference guide and I have subrcribed to Inside Kung Fu for many years and pick up Blackbelt and other martial arts magazines often. Alas, ninjutsu isn't covered today as well as it was back then .

I was going threw some of my old magazines today and found this: This is Ninja The Deadly Warrior from Oct.1986. It states its Issue #1, Vol.#1. I never saw it again after that but it was pretty good, 66 pages. Also picked up a few of my old Inside Kung Fu and Blackbelt magazines.

Wow you found that in your collection? Great find!!! I was checking ebay and found that most of the old issues were going going over 12 bucks without S&H. But that being a #1 issue it's got to be worth so much more, it sure is a keeper. Did you find anymore of the Ninja issues?

I remember buying it and I think there were a few more issues but I'll have to check if I got any of those. As I've noticed with many of my martial arts magazines, the mid-1980's were the zenith of the ninja craze, by the early-1990's there were very few articles regarding ninjas or ninjutsu. Today there seems to be more than in the 1990's but not by much.

No but I wish I did, I remember at one time I was planing on buying a bunch back in the 80's but for some reason I didn't go threw with it. Do they have the back issue buy in the Ninja magazines?

No but I wish I did, I remember at one time I was planing on buying a bunch back in the 80's but for some reason I didn't go threw with it. Do they have the back issue buy in the Ninja magazines? Enter the Ninja had an assortment of back issues but they were a bit pricey, www.entertheninja.com/ninja_store/magazines.shtml . I don't remember picking up too many of the Ninja magazines, I usually stuck with Blackbelt or Inside Kung Fu. I never really liked the artwork on the covers and to me they just seemed too "gimmicky" at the time and never had articles or advertisments that the other magazines had. I"ll keep an eye over at Ebay to see if any good deals arrise, I may just pick up a issue or two....give them another chance . There was a "readers" condition issue of Ninja magazine from 1992 going for $2.50 over their last week but someone beat me to it .

No not really the prices have totally turned me off. I just can't pay 15 bucks for an issue that I haven't really skimmed though.

Here is the ebay pic of the 1985 Black Belt magazines I received for Christmas: These are filled with cool ninja articles and ads. I haven't had time to really go threw all of them. If I can find anything very interesting or bizarre I'll post it.

Well, here is the June 1985 issue cover of Black Belt: As with all mid-1980's martial arts mags with ninjutsu articles, Stephen K. Hayes and Dr. Masaaki Hatsumi are very prevalent .
